FAQ
Do I need to build a backend?
No. Use the hosted Chatter API. Your workspace credentials are in your invitation email.
Is an SMS sent when I sign up?
No. The challenge environment never sends SMS. The code is always 000000, for any phone number.
Can I use any phone number?
Yes, any valid E.164 number (for example +6580000001). Each number is one account inside your workspace.
How do I test a chat alone?
Use the built-in echo bot, a second device, or the iOS Simulator with a second account. You can also create test users with the developer endpoints.
Can I wipe my test data?
Yes. POST /developer/reset deletes every user and message in your workspace. Do not call it after you submit — we test against your workspace.
Must I use SwiftUI?
SwiftUI is preferred. UIKit, React Native (Expo), or Flutter are accepted if the app feels native and meets all requirements.
Can I change the API?
No. The API is fixed. If you think something is missing or wrong, tell us — and explain in your README how you worked around it.
What if the API is down?
Check GET /healthz and email us immediately. We extend the deadline for any outage on our side.
Can I use AI tools?
Yes, but only Qwen Code with Qwen3 Coder Next. We provide a gift card with credits. See Redeem your gift card and the setup guide. You must understand and be able to defend every line in the interview.
What if I run out of AI credits?
Qwen Code shows "Insufficient credits". Reply to your invitation email and we add more. Check your balance any time with qc balance.
Do I have to publish publicly on the App Store?
No. A TestFlight build that passed Beta App Review is enough. It must be good enough that it could pass full App Review.
Who pays for the Apple Developer account?
You do. If this is a problem, tell us before you start.
